Schemes Confirmed

The following schemes have been confirmed to date under Section 11 of the Official Languages Act 2003.

These statutory schemes remain in force for a period of three years or until a new scheme has been confirmed by the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.

The Minister has the right at any time, and no later than 6 months before the scheme expires, to direct the public body to review its current scheme and to prepare a new draft scheme.

The Office of An Coimisinéir Teanga monitors the provision of services as promised by public bodies under the agreed schemes.

An investigation showed that Section 18(1) of the Official Languages Act was contravened when a public body did not provide a service through Irish which was specifically promised in a language scheme.
